Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 12, 2026 · Applies to Days Gone By for iPhone and iPad

The short version: Days Gone By has no accounts and no servers. Your events, photos and categories are stored on your device. If you switch on iCloud sync, that data syncs through your own private iCloud account, which the developer cannot access. There is no analytics, no tracking, and no advertising in this app.

1. Who this covers

Days Gone By ("the app") is an iOS and iPadOS application published by Bill Harned ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the app does with information when you use it. If you have a question it does not answer, email bharned3@gmail.com.

2. Information we collect

We do not collect any personal information. The app has no account system, no login, and no registration. We never ask for your name, email address, phone number, or date of birth, and there is no mechanism in the app that sends your content to us.

We receive no analytics, no usage statistics, no crash telemetry, no advertising identifier, and no device identifier.

3. Information the app stores on your device

Everything you enter is written to the app's private storage on your device:

This data belongs to you. It is not transmitted to us, and we have no ability to read it.

4. iCloud sync (optional, off by default)

The app includes an iCloud sync setting that is turned off unless you turn it on. While it is off, your data never leaves your device.

If you enable it, your events, photos and categories sync through Apple's CloudKit into the private database of your personal iCloud account. This matters:

5. Photos

When you attach a photo, iOS presents Apple's own photo picker and hands the app only the single image you select. The app never receives access to the rest of your photo library. The selected image is stored within that event, on your device — and in your private iCloud if sync is enabled.

6. Notifications

If you allow notifications, reminders are scheduled locally on your device by iOS. They are not push notifications, no server is involved, and nothing about them reaches us. You can revoke permission at any time in the iOS Settings app.

7. Third parties

The app contains no third-party analytics, advertising, attribution, or tracking software of any kind. No advertising network, data broker, or analytics provider receives anything from this app.

Two links in the app open outside it: rating the app on the App Store, and emailing support. Following either hands you off to Apple's App Store or your own mail app, each governed by its own terms.

8. Tracking

The app does not track you, in the sense used by Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework. It does not access the advertising identifier, and it does not link any activity with data from other apps or websites.

9. Selling or sharing data

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your information. There is nothing to sell — the data never reaches us.

10. Your control over your data

Because we hold no copy of your data, deleting it on your device and in your iCloud account removes it completely.

11. Children

The app is safe for all ages and collects nothing from anyone, children included. It is not directed at children under 13, and since we collect no personal information at all, we do not knowingly collect it from children.

12. Security

Your data is protected by your device's own security — your passcode, Face ID or Touch ID, and iOS's file protection. Synced data is protected by the security of your iCloud account, so enabling two-factor authentication on your Apple Account is worthwhile. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee against every possible risk, but keeping your data out of our hands removes an entire category of it.

13. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date at the top. Material changes will be reflected in the app's App Store listing as well. Continuing to use the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
